Veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was so important to the success of the Miami Dolphins last season, is reportedly considering retirement, according to longtime NFL Insider John Clayton.
Per the report, the 38-year old Fitzpatrick had some contract with the Denver Broncos, but it appears that nothing will materialize and Fitzpatrick “looks like he’s going to retire.” Fitzpatrick may only be interested in continuing to play if he was a starter.
It’s hard envisioning a scenario where Fitzpatrick would be brought in as the clear-cut starter, and his best opportunities may come from teams, such as Denver, who want to bring him in to push young quarterbacks in camp.
The Dolphins could also circle back with Fitzpatrick, but he may not be interested in playing the same role in Miami for Tua Tagovailoa, that he did last season.
