Suns’ DeAndre Ayton Talks Impact of Chris Paul

2 Min Read

The Phoenix Suns continued their winning ways by defeating the defending NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, which catapulted them into second place in the Western Conference.

Since the addition of veteran point guard Chris Paul during the offseason, the Suns have been completely on fire, going from a young-but-struggling team to an immediate contender in the West, and Suns’ center DeAndre Ayton credits Paul, and the impact he has had on the team, for the Suns’ ascension this season.

“CP [Paul] is a guy who leads vocally” Ayton said, during an appearance on the NBA on TNT after the game. “He’s always on us, showing us the little things on how to win, the small details that count, especially in today’s game. Losing D-Book [Devin Booker], he sat us down in the huddle and had us make sure we make winning plays. There’s no mistakes. When the game is junky just like this. Us as young players, we just want to listen. It’s contagious the way how he approaches the game, and it’s a blessing.”

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Phoenix jumped into the second spot in the Western Conference for the first time since January 2008.
