AEW President Tony Khan Slams The Forbidden Door Right in the Face of WWE

Earlier today Twitter was set a blaze when it was reported on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that for the last couple of months WWE President Nick Khan had been negotiating a potential partnership with NJPW that would see the company become the promotion’s exclusive partner in the United States.

“A potential deal that would include WWE sending talent along with WWE top stars being allowed to work in New Japan if talks go anywhere.” according to Dave Meltzer.

A deal between WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling would’ve likely put an end to AEW Owner & President Tony Khan’s “forbidden door” angle involving AEW, IMPACT Wrestling, & NJPW.

Tony Khan addressed the report and specifically went after WWE President Nick Khan in a video posted on Twitter from Daily’s Place ahead of tonight’s AEW Dynamite. Watch Tony Khan’s comments below.

WWE doesn’t usually acknowledge comments made by their competitors directed towards them, but it will be interesting to see if the company responds in this situation. Tony Khan took several jabs directed at WWE President and Chief Revenue Officer, Nick Khan. AEW’s head honcho went as far as to say “that there was room for only one Khan in the wrestling business.”

Tony Khan definitely sounds like a guy who’s not sweating any “alleged” negotiations between NJPW and WWE after the promo he just cut. Khan is in every right to protect his company’s business dealing and bottom line. WWE would be undercutting all of AEW’s hard work in trying to build a solid working relationship with Japan’s number one wrestling promotion. It will be interesting too see in the next following weeks and months whether or not this story was much a do about nothing and merely just “talks” between WWE & NJPW. Stay tuned!
