Dolphins Releasing Bobby McCain

1 Min Read

The Miami Dolphins have officially informed veteran defensive back Bobby McCain that he will be released later today, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

With McCain being released, the Dolphins won’t be on the hook for the final two years of the the four-year, $27 million contract they inked McCain to a few seasons ago. McCain was scheduled to count $7.14 million against the 2021 salary cap. The Dolphins will only incur $1.48 million in dead money while saving $5.66 million.

McCain played primarily a safety role for the Dolphins last season, starting 15 of 16 games while collecting 46 tackles, 5 passes defended, and 1 interception.

With free agent safety Malik Hooker in town for a visit with the Dolphins, releasing McCain could signal a deal with Hooker on the horizon.
