When it comes to the future, Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield isn’t worried about a potential long-term contract with the franchise and is in “no rush” to get an extension done, according to ESPN’s Jake Trotter.

Mayfield is instead fully focusing on the upcoming season. Mayfield became eligible for a contract extension this offseason. Cleveland picked up the fifth-year option on Mayfield’s contract which will pay him $18.86 million for the 2022 season.

“Everything happens for a reason and it’ll handle itself,” he said.  “So, just worried about winning.”

“The chips will fall where they’re supposed to,” Mayfield continued. “The concern right now is winning and building a strong foundation for the season. That’s what everyone in this building should be concerned about.”
