Green Bay Packers franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers has further dug his heels in on his rift with the franchise and reportedly turned down a two-year contract extension that the organization offered him this offseason, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Per the report, the deal would have made Rodgers the highest paid quarterback and player in the NFL, and would have kept the reigning MVP in the fold for an additional five seasons. It further illustrates both the organizations efforts to mend fences, and Rodgers’ stance that he no longer wants to play for the Packers due to his issues with management.
Rodgers, 37, has said one of his issues with the team is regarding current general manager Brian Gutekunst, and his failure to give any prior notice regarding the team’s plans to trade up and select quarterback Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft.
