Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady put up impressive numbers during his first season in Tampa, which helped bring the Bucs a Super Bowl championship, but Brady apparently did it while dealing with a major injury.

According to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud, the 43-year old Brady played the entire season with a torn MCL. Brady was not listed on the injury report all season, but ended up undergoing surgery to repair the knee in late February.

“I don’t think he was 100 percent last year,” Buccaneers quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen said in June (h/t ESPN). “His quote, or close to a quote was, ‘Hey, I’m gonna get my knee fixed up and I’m gonna be better next year and you’re gonna be excited about that.'”

Brady threw for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns for the Super Bowl champion Bucs last season.
