Washington, Brandon Scherff Unlikely to Reach New Deal

1 Min Read

The Washington Football Team and All-Pro guard Brandon Scherff are unlikely to come to an agreement on a new long-term contract ahead of Thursday’s deadline, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Scherff not landing a new contract means that he will play his second straight season under the franchise tag, which will earn him around $18.4 million this upcoming season, and means that a third tag is very unlikely given the cost.

Washington has made efforts to keep Scherff on the team, but he is likely seeing a deal that will top the record setting deal the Kansas City Chiefs gave interior lineman Joe Thuney back in March of this year.
