Chicago Bulls and Team USA guard Zach LaVine was officially placed into health and safety protocols on Monday and didn’t travel with the rest of the team on its flight to Tokyo for the upcoming Olympics, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

LaVine will be able to join Team USA in Japan later this week, USA Basketball said in an official statement.

LaVine joins Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal and Detroit Pistons’ Jerami Grant as Team USA players who were affected over the past week alone. Beal had to leave the team, while Grant was in contact tracing quarantine for four days.

Team USA will not travel with only 8 players.

Team USA is waiting on Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday and Devin Booker to finish their play in the NBA Finals before they can travel, and they could arrive in Japan 24 hours ahead of the first pool-play game against France on Sunday.

LaVine was averaging 10.3 points per game over the 4 exhibition games he played with Team USA.
