Zelina Vega Returns to SmackDown, Given Spot At Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match

2 Min Read

Zelina Vega made her WWE return on tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown. PWInsider.com broke the news that Vega was indeed backstage at the WWE ThunderDome. “She was there last week as well, but well hidden. She is now officially back full-time for the company.”

Sonya Deville announced Vega as the latest participant in the 2021 Women’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match, much to the anger of Liv Morgan.

Morgan demanded an explanation as to why she was getting an opportunity at Money in the Bank and not her? Liv challenged Vega to a one on one match that Sonya Deville decided to grant.

In a surprising outcome Liv Morgan would get the roll up win over Vega in her return match. Even with the loss Vega will join Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, & Carmella in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match, while Liv Morgan will have to try once again to convince Sonya Deville that she deserves to be in the match as well next week.

WWE and Vega parted ways late last year, after she refused to shut down her OnlyFans account. The company had begun to crack down on talent having third-party platforms well before her departure. WWE viewed Vega’s actions as a breach of contract and the decision was made to release Zelina from her deal.

Rumors circulated that she was back training at the Performance Center and that her return to the company was imminent. Soon after WWE released her husband, Aleister Black, from his contract the rumors died down, if anything it seemed like they would be signing with AEW as a package deal.

The addition of Zelina Vega to Friday Night SmackDown creates depth to an already thin Women’s roster.
