Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa Making Impression on Teammates

2 Min Read

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa may be poised for a breakout year in 2021, if he is able to carry over his impressive play in training camp to the regular season, and he has even impressed his teammates along the way.

According to a few Dolphins players, there is a big difference between Tua in Year one versus now.

“Last year, I even noticed his playbook was condensed to slants and bubbles” Dolphins veteran safety Eric Rowe said, according to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson. “They really wouldn’t let him show his arm. Now seeing training camp, a lot more deep routes, they’re allowing him the opportunity to throw it deep. That’s what we need. Tua is making that jump. I see each day he’s getting better from the first day.”

“It just seems like confidence. That’s a big thing for year-one to year-two players,” Dolphins tight end Durham Smythe said. “He understands the offense, yada, yada, has got a great arm. Everyone says that. Everyone knows that. But confidence year one to year two, that’s big.”

Health will be the main story for Tagovailoa, who has had his fair share of major injuries before making it to the NFL level. The Dolphins medical team will need to keep an eye on everything, from sprains and strains all the way to pilonidal cysts and performance.
