After a surprising playoff run that saw the Atlanta Hawks make it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals, the team is making sure that their superstar guard is going to be a part of the journey from here on out.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks have agreed to terms with Trae Young on a five-year designated rookie maximum extension worth up to $207 million, his agent, Omar Wilkes of Klutch Sport said.
Young’s new deal includes a 30% escalator clause that would turn the guaranteed $172 million base into $207 million should Young be voted onto one of the three All-NBA teams, and also includes an early termination option after the fourth season.
