Padres Activate Fernando Tatis Jr., Place Yu Darvish On IL

1 Min Read

The San Diego Padres have officially reinstated star infielder Fernando Tatis Jr. from the injured list and is in today’s lineup, starting in right field for the first time in his career, according to an official team announcement.

Additionally, the Padres have placed starter Yu Darvish on the IL due to lower back tightness.

Tatis Jr. playing in right field will mark the first time in his career that he has played at any other position other than shortstop. Tatis has been wreaking havoc at the plate, posting an impressive slash line of .290/.373/.647 during this season.

Darvish, who has posted a 3.70 ERA this season, left his most recent start a few days ago with lower back tightness and he will now miss at least one of his upcoming start as the team hopes his stay on the injured list doesn’t extend any longer than that.
