The Los Angeles Rams have acquired veteran running back Sony Michel from the New England Patriots which will add some much needed depth to their running back unit, according to an official team announcement.
The Patriots received two conditional draft picks, one in the fifth round and another in the sixth, in exchange for Michel.
The Rams now have more depth behind new starter Darrell Henderson Jr. who had to take over starting duties following the season ending injury to Cam Akers. Akers tore his right Achilles tendon while working out ahead of training camp.
Michel has rushed for 2,292 yards and 14 touchdowns in 28 starts for the Patriots and is due to earn a base salary of $1.79 million in the final year of his contract in 2021. New England opted not to pick up his fifth-year option.
