On the heels of a down season, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is responding to the offseason chatter that the NFL will catch up to his game this season and figure him out, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.
Jackson became the youngest quarterback to win NFL MVP for his work in the 2019 season, but experienced a marked dip in his numbers in 2020, although the numbers were still impressive in the passing, and rushing game. Jackson saw only 26 touchdowns in 2020, a dip from the 36 he threw in 2019, and also rushed for 201 yards less in 2020 than he did in 2019.
According to a report last week from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, people around the league have told him: “This might be the year that everybody figures out Lamar Jackson.”
“We’re going to see,” Jackson said. “But I doubt it, though. I strongly doubt it.”
The Ravens have dealt with a number of injuries to their receiving corps with the likes of Sammy Watkins, Marquise Brown, Rashod Bateman, Miles Boykin, James Proche, and Deon Cain all sidelined.
Jackson believes the passing game will get back on track in time for the season opener.
“When they are back, we’ll be hitting right where we started off at,” Jackson said. “We ain’t worried about it because they’ve been working hard and we’ve been working hard as well.”
