BYU, Cincinnati, UCF, and Houston are looking to join the Big 12, according to ESPN.
ESPN’s Heather Dinich and Adam Rittenburg wrote that “the schools could be approved for admission as early as a Sept. 10 meeting of Big 12 presidents.”
Right now, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF are a part of the AAC, while BYU is an Independent. The Big 12 currently has ten teams in the conference. However, it was announced that Oklahoma and Texas would be leaving to join the SEC.
If these schools are approved to join, it would help the Big 12 recover from the loss of the two schools. BYU has been an Independent since 2011. Cincinnati, UCF, and Houston have been in the AAC since the conference’s first year in 2013.
