We are now three weeks into the 2021 College Football season. During this time is when many high school recruits take official visits to schools and lock into where they are going.
Sometimes a recruit is won or lost depending on how a team does during the season. Last time we saw how each of the Big Ten was doing in the recruit rankings. Now let’s take a look at the Pac-12. Continue the discussion on the sports talk app after reading.
- Oregon: Over the past few years, Oregon has stepped up with its recruiting classes. In 2019, they got a commitment from the second-best overall recruit in DE Kayvon Thibodeaux. This year is another amazing class, as the Ducks 20-man class is ranked seventh overall. Top-20 prospect OT Kelvin Banks leads the class that also includes nine four-stars. The second and third-best commits are two California recruits WR Tetairoa McMillan and ATH Jalil Tucker. Oregon class also has the second and third-best players in their home state in Safety Trejon Williams and Edge Emar’rion Winston. Four-star Tanner Bailey is the team’s quarterback commit. If Oregon wins another Pac-12 Championship, they should have a strong finish to the class.
- Stanford: Stanford is an interesting case to watch in recruiting every year. Because of their academics, the Cardinal have to make sure that a kid will qualify for the school. As of right now, they have an 18-man class that is ranked 14th in the country. Texas DL Ernest Cooper IV is their top commit and one of seven four-stars in the class. Another four-star is California Safety Kamari Ramsey, who is just outside the top-150. Two others California kids committed are three-stars OT Kenji Swanson, and DL Zach Rowell. Georgia three-star Ashton Daniels is their quarterback commit. With the win against USC in week two, that might have some of their remaining targets considering them.
- USC: USC is in an uncomfortable position right now. With the firing of Clay Helton, the Trojans have a questionable future, which could scare off some kids. The 29thoverall 11-man class does include two five-stars in California CB Domani Jackson and Georgia DL Mykel Williams. They have four others that are four-stars including, top-100 QB Devin Brown. CB Ephesians Prysock and WR Kevin Green are the other two California commits. USC could finish with a strong class, however, it all depends on what their next move is with their head coach search.
- Arizona: Arizona’s 16-man class is ranked 33rd overall in the nation. The class is led by two California four-stars, TE Keyan Burnett and LB Sterling Lane. The Wildcats’ third and fourth-best commits (CB Zeke Berry and RB Jonah Coleman) are also California prospects. Three other California kids are committed as well, including QB Noah Fifita. Meanwhile, they also have five commits from their home state. The best of which is three-star LB Tristan Monday. Arizona has a solid class that they can continue to build on before Signing Day.
- UCLA: UCLA has an 11-man class that is ranked 41stoverall in the nation. Nine of those commits are California prospects. This includes three of their four four-stars, the best of which is TE Jack Pedersen. Utah TE Carsen Ryan is the lone four-star from out of state. The other two four-stars are WR Jadyn Marshall and ATH Clint Stephens. Currently, the Bruins do not have a quarterback commit. The more commits that UCLA gets, the more we find out how this class will look.
- California: California is behind the other two schools that play in the state. The Golden Bears 13-man class is one spot behind UCLA’s class. The lone four-star in the class is in-state QB, Justyn Martin. Three California DL, Nathan Burnell, Damonic Williams, and Jaxson Moi are the next three best commits. Over half of their class is from the state of California. California still has room to fill out in their class. How will they finish it out?
- Colorado: Colorado’s 16-man class is just inside the top-50 at 48th They are one of three teams in the Pac-12 to not have a four-star committed to them right now. The Buffaloes top commit is Texas Safety, Dylan Dixson. Three-star OT Travis Gray is the team’s lone commit from their home state. Eight of their commit, including three of their top four, are from Texas. The two others top commits from Texas are QB Owen McCown and CB Joshua Wiggins. Holding on to their current commits, while finishing strong will be very important to Colorado.
- Washington: Washington is another Pac-12 school with a low number of commits. The team currently has 10 players committed, good for 51st However, the Huskies have three four-stars in TE Ryan Otton, WR Germie Bernard, and ATH Emeka Megwa. Otton is one of four commits from the state of Washington. The rest are TE Chance Bogan, IOL Vega Ioane, and WR Denzel Boston. California three-star Jackson Stratton is the quarterback commit for Washington. Washington needs to build on this class before Signing Day comes.
- Oregon State: The second team with no four-stars committed to them is Oregon State. The Beavers 12-man class is ranked 54thin the nation. Top-500 prospect California Edge Mathias Malaki-Donaldson is the top commit for Oregon State. Florida LB Melvin Jordan is another top-500 recruit committed to the team. Three-star OT Jacob Strand is the lone commit from the state of Oregon. California three-star Travis Throckmorton is the quarterback commit for Oregon State. The Beavers still have enough time to get some solid players to finish out the class.
- Utah: Utah has an eight-man class that is ranked 66thin the nation. Four-star California QB Nate Johnson is the Utes highest-rated commit. The team’s other four-star, DL Aisea Moa is the only commit from the state of Utah. Utah also has another quarterback from California committed to them with Brandon Rose. With only eight commits, this class is far from being finished.
- Washington State: The last team without a four-star commit is Washington State. The Cougars have an eight-man class ranked 77thin the nation. California LB Tarriq Al-Uqdah is the top commit for the team. Washington State has three players committed to them from Washington. They are RB Djouvensky Schlenbaker, LB Hudson Cedarland, and Edge Jakobus Seth. Arizona three-star Adryan Lara is the team’s second highest-ranked commit and their quarterback.
- Arizona State: Arizona State only has five commits right now, good for 88thin the nation. Two of the Sun Devils commits are four-stars in California ATH Larry Turner-Gordon and Virginia RB Tevin White. Washington Safety Tristan Dunn is close to being ranked as a four-star. The final two commits are DL Syncere Massery and Kicker Carter Brown. It’s a little for Arizona State to only have five commits at this time. They must find solid prospects to fill out the rest of this class.
