Bears’ Justin Fields Plays Most of Game with Hyperextended Knee

1 Min Read

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy was impressed with rookie quarterback Justin Fields, who toughed it out and played through most of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders with a hyperextended knee.

“His toughness was great, it was awesome,” Nagy said, according to ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson. “So that’s all. That’s the No. 1 thing I’m taking out of this, is his toughness.”

“I knew I hyperextended it,” Fields said. “I was just trying to see if I could get up and I was just able to walk off the field and then after a while I could start feeling my strength getting back, so I was just trying to see how stable it was and seeing if I could run on it.”

Fields managed to throw his first NFL touchdown, a pass with tight end Jesper Horsted. Fields would throw for 111 yards in the 20-9 victory.
