Byron Leftwich will be heading back to the organization where he started his playing career.
According to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud, Buccaneers offensive coordinator and former first-round pick by the Jaguars (quarterback) Byron Leftwich is closing in on a deal to become the team’s next head coach.
Despite the report, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Jags are still considering other candidates as well: “Jaguars continue talking with Bucs OC Byron Leftwich and Colts DC Matt Eberflus, amongst others, but are not close to a deal with anyone at this time, per sources. Jags still haven’t decided which way they’ll go. Organization still going through the process and figuring out.”
