1 Min Read

The Pittsburgh Pirates are ensuring that their young core will stay in tact for years to come, and a big step in that process was taken as they announced the re-signing of third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes to an eight-year, $70 million contract, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Jason Mackey.

The deal will see Hayes inked through at least the 2029 season.

Hayes will earn $10 million during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, $7 million in each of the following four seasons, and an $8 million salary in both the 2028 and 2029 seasons. The 2030 season includes a club option worth $12 million and comes with a $6 million buyout.

Hayes is coming off a 2021 season in which he hit .257 with 6 homeruns and 38 RBIs.
