Luka Doncic Leads Mavericks to Victory to Avoid Sweep
Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic propelled his team to a must-win victory in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors to avoid a series sweep, and believes that the team can come away with another shocking series victory.
The Mavericks are attempting to become the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series, and made the first step in that journey with a convincing 119-109 win at home against the Warriors.
Dallas has already shocked in this year’s NBA Playoffs with their upset of the top-seeded Phoenix Suns, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to end the Suns season in blow-out fashion.
“I mean, I still believe we can win, you know,” Doncic said, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “Swept or not swept, in the end, if you lose, you lose. Don’t matter how many we win. We have to go game by game. We’re going to believe until the end.”
Doncic’s 30-point, 14-point, and 9 assist performance in Game 4 joined Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor as the only players in league history to score at least 30 points in each of their first five playoff elimination games.
“I just want to win the game and that’s it,” Doncic said. “We got more to do, you know. This is nothing. We got three more.”
“We weren’t alert tonight defensively,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “We weren’t sharp. And I thought we let them kind of get into a groove, and once a team like that gets into a 3-point groove, it’s tough to get them out of it.”
