Cavaliers Sign Ricky Rubio to Three-Year Deal

1 Min Read

The Cleveland Cavaliers and free agent guard Ricky Rubio have agreed to a three-year, $18 million deal to bring him back to the Cavaliers his agents, Jeff Schwartz and Sean Kennedy of Excel Sports said, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Rubio, 31, had a solid season going last season with the Cavaliers prior to suffering an ACL tear in December, which ended his season. However, prior to the injury Rubio was averaging 13.1 points, 6.6 assists and 4.1 rebounds.

The Cavs then used Rubio’s expiring contract to acquire Caris LeVert from the Indiana Pacers.

Rubio was a key factor to a strong start for the Cavs last season, and helped fill the void left when Collin Sexton suffered a season-ending  knee injury.

Rubio is still recovering from his injury and is unlikely to be ready to return to the court for the start of the regular season.
