The New York Jets are moving a slimmed down Mekhi Becton over to right tackle, a move that was on display when Becton returned to the field for the first time in 11 months, looking much slimmer, on Wednesday.

In a corresponding move, the Jets will be keeping George Fant, who played well taking over for an injured Becton in 2021, at left tackle.

“George feels much more comfortable on the left side,” Jets head coach Robert Saleh said, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

“Whether it’s left or right, I don’t really care as long as I’m on the field,” Becton said.

“I’m not going to get too much into the weight,” Saleh said, “but he got himself into football shape. He’s a gifted athlete, a gifted man. I’m really excited about the direction he’s going.”
