The Los Angeles Chargers had one of their more disappointing seasons in 2021, showing flashed of a team that looked prime to be a serious playoff contender, but frustratingly battling inconsistency punctuated by a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders during the final week of the season that eliminated them from playoff contention and ended their season.
Chargers fans aired their frustrations with head coach Brandon Staley, who now says the way the season ended still haunts him.
“My regret,” Staley said (via ProFootballTalk), “is that in what should’ve been able to get us (Chargers) out of there with a tie. They ended up splitting us on a 10-yard run and that’s what I’ve been thinking about — our execution on that last play. That’s the tough side of things, having to live with that. I didn’t do a good enough job. That’s the tough side of things. That’s what gotten me moving this whole offseason.”
With big ticket additions such as cornerback J.C Jackson and All-Pro linebacker Khalil Mach, the Chargers are hoping that their improved defense can help them get over the hump, and into the playoffs during the 2022 season.
