The biggest NBA story of the summer has concluded with a flop, as the Brooklyn Nets and disgruntled forward Kevin Durant, who formally requested a trade earlier this offseason, have agreed to move forward together.
Durant is not going to be traded. Kevin Nash won’t be fired, and neither with Sean Marks. Nothing came of his trade request. Durant didn’t end up on the Phoenix Suns, or the Boston Celtics, or the Philadelphia 76ers.
Nothing happened.
“[Coach] Steve Nash and I, together with [governors] Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai, met with Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman in Los Angeles yesterday,” Marks said in a statement. “We have agreed to move forward with our partnership. We are focusing on basketball, with one collective goal in mind: build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn.”
Durant has a four-year, $198 million extension that kicks in this season.
