Patriots Release Malcolm Butler

1 Min Read

The New England Patriots have released veteran cornerback Malcolm Butler, abruptly ending his second stint with the organization before he even played in a regular season game, after reaching an injury settlement with him.

Butler, 32, inked a two-year, $5 million with New England back in March but ended up on the injured reserve earlier this month.

Butler first joined the Patriots in 2014 as an undrafted free agent and is most remembered for when he intercepted Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson’s pass at the goal line which sealed the Patriots win in Super Bowl XLIX.
