Yankees Transfer Luis Severino, Miguel Castro to 60-Day Injured List

1 Min Read

The New York Yankees announced a number of roster moves on Monday, with the most notable being that starting pitcher Luis Severino and reliver Miguel Castro were both being transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Severino, 28, was placed on the injured list July 14 due to a low-grade strain of his right lat, and now could be looking at a mid-September return at the earliest. Severino’s absence is longer than expected, but could still factor into the Yankees postseason roster.

Severino has pitched to the tune of a 3.45 ERA over 16 starts this season.

In additional moves, right-hander Clarke Schmidt was optioned to Triple-A, and right hander Carlos Espinal was signed to a major league contract and selected to the active roster.
