Pelicans Lose Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson to Injury

1 Min Read

The New Orleans Pelicans suffered a pair of setbacks during their loss to the Utah Jazz on Sunday night as stars Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson were lost to injury during the 122-121 loss on Sunday.

Williamson took a hard fall with 8:07 left in the fourth quarter when he was blocked going for a dunk by Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson, and hit the ground hard landing on his backside. Williamson initially appeared to be fine before being removed from the game a few seconds later, clearly hampered.

“Unfortunate play,” McCollum said of Williamson’s injury, according to ESPN’s Andrew Lopez. “[Clarkson] made a play on the ball and he obviously fell and hit his back. Hopefully he’s back sooner than later.”

Williamson had 25 points and six rebounds during the game.

Earlier in the game, during the first half, the Pelicans ruled Ingram out with a head injury and said he was being evaluated for concussion-like symptoms.  Ingram collided with teammate Naji Marshall as the two went up to attempt to steal a pass during the later part of the first quarter.
