The San Francisco Giants missed out on Aaron Judge, but ensured they weren’t going to miss on another top-tier free agent as they have agreed to terms with star shortstop Carlos Correa on a 13-year, $350 million contract, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Correa’s new deal is a record-long contract and is the richest ever for the position and gives the Giants’ a franchise-type player around which it plans to build around, and is the second-biggest deal, behind Judge’s nine-year, $360 million contract with the New York Yankees.
Correa’s deal ties that of Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper, whose $330 million deal was inked back in 2019, and similar to Harper’s contract, Correa also has a no-trade clause in his new deal.
Correa, 28, bet on himself to re-enter the free agent market after inking a one-year deal with the Minnesota Twins, where he hit .307/.381/.496 with 21 home runs over his last 120 games.
