The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to terms with free agent shortstop Trea Turner on an 11-year, $300 million contract during the first full days of the MLB Winter Meetings, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Turner, 29, reunited with Bryce Harper in Philadelphia, playing together again as they did with the Washington Nationals, and brings to the Phillies a stellar speed-power combination that ranks atop the majors.
The Phillies were long considered to be a front runner for Turner, and cleared money when they declined their $17 million option on second baseman Jean Segura.
Turner batted .298/.343/.466 with 21 home runs, 100 RBIs and 27 stolen bases for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.
