The New York Mets are dealing with the same issue that the San Francisco Giants did when they initially agreed to a monster contract deal with free-agent infielder Carlos Correa, which puts yet another potential deal in limbo.
With Correa’s deal problematic for a second team, it opens the doors for his former team, the Minnesota Twins, to jump into play as the Mets continue their efforts to salvage the deal with Correa, according to The Athletic’s Jim Bowden.
Correa’s 12-year, $315 million contract with the Mets is in limbo, and there is an anticipation that there will be a big change to the contract amid the health concerns with the star shortstop, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Correa is currently engaging with other teams, and these continuous issues could hamper his value on the open market, allowing for smaller market teams such as the Twins, to become viable options.
