Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be going for his second career Lombardi Trophy in the Super Bowl on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the superstar signal caller will already have another trophy in his possession heading into the game.

His second career MVP award, making Mahomes the 10th player ever to win the award twice.

During the NFL Honors program on Thursday evening, it was announced that Mahomes was the clear winner of the Associated Press’ Most Valuable Player award, landing 48 of 50 first-place votes.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen secured the other two votes.

“I would never be standing here today without you all,” Mahomes said in a video message played after the announcement (h/t ESPN). “Every day, giving everything we have together to go for the ultimate goal: the Super Bowl. Let’s continue to go for that dream this weekend.”
