The Chicago Bulls are back to their losing ways and are currently 0-2 on their road trip following last night’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets, who weren’t playing with either Mikal Bridges or Cam Johnson following the blockbuster trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns.
Bulls guard Zach LaVine, whose name was mentioned leading up to the NBA trade deadline, certainly did his part, dropping 38 points on 16-for-25 shooting from the floor, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Nets.
Following the game, LaVine pointed to the disparity of 3-point attempts as a factor in the loss, with the Bulls being putrid beyond the arc, connecting on just 5 of their 26 attempts while the Nets sank 17 of their 44 three pointers.
Obviously, they got up a lot more 3s than we did,” LaVine said, according to NBC Sports Chicago’s K.C. Johnson. “We don’t shoot a lot of them. We’re pretty accurate when we do. We still find ways to win games. (This) just wasn’t one of them. We gotta stay with it. It’s us versus everybody. We trust each other and we’re all going to play for each other.”
LaVine also didn’t have much help, as DeMar DeRozan was held to just 14 points.
“The room of error is getting slimmer and slimmer. It’s on us to realize that and understand that everything matters. We can’t rely on someone else to lose,” DeRozan said. “We need every one of these games.”
The Bulls will wrap up their road trip on Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
