Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers gave some promising news regarding the healthy of superstar big man Joel Embiid, who suffered an apparent calf injury that forced him from their big win over the Chicago Bulls.

Embiid was reportedly dealing with soreness in his right calf, and it appeared that the Sixers were just resting him as Philly built up a big lead. However, given that the regular season is winding down and the playoffs are on the horizon, fears started rising regarding a potential long-term injury for Embiid.

Rivers spoke about Embiid’s status following the game, stating that he is not worried about it that much.

“Not much, no, not at all,” Rivers said when asked about Embiid’s injury, according to NBC Sports. “I think he’ll be ready for next game. It’s just precaution. We had a lead, felt like we could hold it. Whenever you hear calf, you just say, ‘That’s it.’”

Embiid added that he will likely play on Friday when the Sixers take on the Golden State Warriors saying that he felt something in his calf on Monday and that it “popped” during the first half of their win over Chicago, according to Gina Mizell of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Like I always say, it’s all about the playoffs. Trying to make sure that I get there healthy. We’re just gonna see how it goes the next few days,” Embiid said.
