Lakers’ LeBron James Reportedly Responds to Kyrie Irving Pitch to Join Mavericks

2 Min Read

Earlier this week, sports journalists were sent into a tizzy when news broke that Dallas Mavericks point guard and pending unrestricted free agent Kyrie Irving had been attempting to recruit his former teammate, current Los Angeles Laker LeBron James, to join him in Dallas.

Now, we know a bit more about Irving’s pitch to James, who has to make his own big decisions this summer, likely to have an immense impact on the Lakers moving forward.

Aside from the fact that it seems extremely unlikely that James would go to the Mavs, especially considering that Dallas simply wouldn’t be able to pull off a trade of such magnitude given the little assets they have to work with, the story still gained some traction on social media.

According to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Bally Sports Network, when Irving asked James to join him on the Mavericks during a conversation on the phone, James reportedly replied with – “I’ll think about it”

James and Irving certainly had success playing with one another during their stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, which resulted in an NBA Championship, but given the drama that surrounded Irving the last few years, including poor ends to his stints with the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets, it’s unclear if James would seriously consider teaming up with Irving again.
