The Cincinnati Bengals made a shocking move on Tuesday as they have released offensive tackle, and once prized free agent signing, La’el Collins from the team’s physically unable to perform list, according to ESPN’s Ben Baby.

Collins had been recovering from torn ligaments in his left knee, and injury that he suffered during a Week 16 game against the New England Patriots during the 2022 season. Collins as placed on the PUP list ahead of training camp as he continued the rehab process.

Collins signed with the Bengals in the 2022 offseason following his release from the Dallas Cowboys and would go on to start 15 games at right tackle for the Bengals. Collins, who had been dealing with a back injury during his time with the Bengals, was slotted to provide valuable depth upon his return as Orlando Brown and Jonah Williams were holding down their respective starting tackle spots.

With the move, Cincinnati will gain $7.7 million in cap savings while incurring $1.7 million in dead money in 2024.
