Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, Kirk Cousins Not On Trade Block

2 Min Read

The Minnesota Vikings may not be having the kind of season that they had hoped for but that doesn’t mean that the Vikings are looking to make massive changes and jump start a rebuild by trading off their best players.

The Vikings managed to notch their first victory of the season on Sunday when they defeated the Carolina Panthers 21-13, in a game between two winless teams and two teams that are seeing their respective seasons slip away.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Vikings will not be shopping starting quarterback Kirk Cousins or superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson. The report came out prior to Minnesota getting their first win of the season on Sunday.

“And despite the winless Vikings entering Week 4 with their second consecutive game against a winless opponent, two team sources said the Vikings are not punting on the season and have no plans to trade Cousins, who would have to waive his no-trade clause to be moved.”

While a Cousins trade may be a foregone conclusion at some point, the franchise has no plans to ship Jefferson out.

“In addition, those sources shot down trade rumors regarding star wide receiver Justin Jefferson. The team already tried extending Jefferson in a deal that would make him one of the highest-paid players in football.”

The Vikings clearly are confident that they can turn their season around, but even if they decide to go through a rebuild, it is obvious that they will do so with Jefferson firmly entrenched as a franchise cornerstone.
