The San Francisco Giants were able to land one of the top free agents in Japanese outfielder Jung Hoo Lee, inking the international player to a six-year, $113 million contract.

Lee, who will make his MLB debut this year, posted the following message for Giants fans on sports social media via his official Instagram page.

“It is a great honor to be a part of the San Francisco Giants organization. I want to meet Giants fans as soon as possible and look forward to it,” Lee wrote. “I’m currently training hard in the offseason. I will do my best to make SF Giants fans proud. Happy New Year, Let’s go Giants!”

Lee spent seven years in the KBO and played in 884 games in total, hitting .340 with 65 home runs, 515 RBI and 69 stolen bases.

Lee was the KBO’s Rookie of the Year in 2017 and the Most Valuable Player in 2022 and also collected five Golden Glove awards along the way.

Lee is projected to be the Giants centerfielder on day one and the team is hoping his success in Japan can immediately translate to MLB.
