Hornets’ Miles Bridges Likely Remaining in Charlotte

Miles Bridges may remain a Hornet after the trade deadline

1 Min Read

Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges had been rumored to be on the move this trade deadline with the majority of NBA journalists and insiders linking him to the Phoenix Suns, but it seems like Bridges may be remaining with the Hornets.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Bridges, who is coming off back-to-back 40-point games, is more likely to remain with the team past the trade deadline and added that the Hornets are interested in re-signing him this upcoming offseason.

Now, it’s fair to note that this could be just a smokescreen from the Hornets who may be looking to drive up Bridges’ value and the return they may receive in a trade. Bridges’ value, despite his offensive production, is limited due to his ongoing legal issues, and the potential negative reaction from fans should their team acquire him.

Bridges signed the one-year qualifying offer this past offseason, so he can dictate where he goes.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, “Bridges might well stay put in Charlotte to preserve his Bird Rights for the offseason.”

It’s important to point this out because if he does waive his no-trade clause, he’ll end up forfeiting his Bird Rights.
