The Kansas City Chiefs have signed veteran kicker Harrison Butker to a contract extension for four years and $25.6 million, with $17.75 million guaranteed in a deal that makes him the highest paid kicker in the league, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Butker’s $6.4 million a year salary puts him ahead of the previously highest paid kickers such as the Baltimore Ravens’ Justin Tucker and Philadelphia Eagles’ Jake Elliott, who both average $6 million annually on their contracts.
Butker was scheduled to make $3.945 million in the final season of the five-year contract, but now he is under contract with the Chiefs through the 2028 season.
“There’s no place I’d rather be than with the Chiefs, excited to finalize a 4 year extension,” Butker wrote in a post on X. “To the Heights!”
Butker’s career field goal percentage is 89.1, which is second all time behind the aforementioned Tucker at 90.2, and Butker has had a knack for making clutch postseason field goals for Kansas City throughout his tenure, particularly with eight seconds remaining to help the Chiefs take the victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.
