The New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs continue to negotiate a trade that would send Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger, a former National League MVP award winner, to the Yankees but the two teams are still apart on money.
According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, there is still a gap between the Yankees and Cubs on how much money the Cubs will pay of Bellinger’s current deal, stating that while a deal still could happen it’s a matter of “who blinks first”.
The Yankees are also exploring other players such as Pete Alonso, Christian Walker, Carlos Santana, and Josh Naylor, among others, to fill their glaring need at first base and to help improve their outfield.
