The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to terms on a three-year, $12.5 million contract with Korean infielder Hyeseong Kim who had a deadline on January 3rd to sign with an MLB team, according to ESPN.
Kim, 25, was officially posted by the Kiwoom Heroes on December 5th which set off a deadline to get a deal done with a major league team by Friday, January 3rd. His new deal includes team options for 2028 and 2029 and the Dodgers are paying a $2.5 million release fee to Kiwoom, which is 20% of the total package.
Kim is known and heralded by his elite defensive skills and is likely going to serve as a super utility player given his ability to play superb defense across a number of positions such as second base, third base, shortstop and in the outfield.
Kim, who played 8 years with the Heroes, is a career .304 hitter with 37 home runs and 211 stolen bases in 953 games.
