Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones and former Cowboys cornerback and current Colorado head coach Deion Sanders have spoken regarding the vacant head coaching gig in Dallas, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Cowboys decided not to retain head coach Mike McCarthy, whose contract expired last week and is now a free agent, and have been linked to Sanders for the majority of the regular season as McCarthy’s future was up in the air.
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” Sanders told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
Sanders has made an unforgettable mark on Colorado and just wrapped up his second season which resulted in a 9-4 record during a season where wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter was the Heisman Trophy winner.
