Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell currently has an unclear future beyond 2025 which has inspired teams from around the league to check in on the coach’s availability and if he would be interested in leaving Minnesota.
The answer is no.
“I’m not really interested in kind of, I guess I should say, addressing the rumors or speculation,” O’Connell said when addressing the rumors, according to ESPN’s Kevin Siefert. “What I can tell you is I love this team. I love everything about this organization. This is where I want to be. This is where I want to keep coaching and leading.”
O’Connell’s current deal expires at the conclusion of the 2025 season and an extension is an option for the organization, despite owners Zygi and Mark Wilf deciding against offering contract extentions to either O’Connell or general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, who signed with the Vikings two weeks after O’Connell, opting to do so following the 2024 season.
“[I’m not interested] in any conversations in my opinion at this point that really aren’t about the Rams and the task at hand,” O’Connell said, “and my personal responsibility to lead immediate improvement off of yesterday but also capitalizing on the opportunity to be in the tournament. [That’s] my sole focus at this point.”
O’Connell has a 34-17 regular-season record during his three seasons in Minnesota.
