Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving will miss at least 1-2 weeks due to a bulging disk in his back, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon.
The organization remains optimistic that treatment over the coming days will provide a return-to-play target date for Irving. The development comes after the Mavericks announced that Irving would miss Monday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a lumbar sprain in his back.
Irving, who did not play during the Mavericks loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, did not join the team on their road trip and stayed in Dallas to be reevaluated.
It’s another big blow for the Mavericks who are also without franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic who has been sidelined after suffering a strained left calf during the Christmas Day loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
