The Cincinnati Reds acquired veteran infielder Gavin Lux from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday in exchange for draft pick and an outfield prospect adding another solid hitter to the Reds lineup for 2025.
Lux, 27, who has won two World Series titles with the Dodgers, comes to a Reds team that is hoping to make some big strides in 2025. Lux became expendable after the Dodgers signed Hyeseong Kim last week.
The Reds sent Los Angeles competitive balance Round A pick (worth around $2.5 million in bonus-pool money) and outfielder Mike Sirota, a third-round pick in 2024.
“He’s a guy who has a chance to come in and be in our lineup and lengthen that lineup out,” Reds president of baseball operations Nick Krall said, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. “Just us being able to add a left-handed hitter that hits well against right-handed pitching.”
