The Seattle Mariners are leaving All-Star starting pitcher Bryan Woo off of their American League Division Series roster ahead of their clash with the Detroit Tigers following a breakout season from Woo, according to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez.
Seattle will instead start George Kirby and Luis Castillo in the first two games of the series and are expected to hand the ball to Bryce Miller who will serve as the fourth pitcher in their starting rotation.
Woo, 25, posted a record of 15-7 with a 2.94 ERA in 30 starts, but was forced out of start on September 19th against the Houston Astros after warming up ahead of the 6th inning which would be diagnosed as right pectoral inflammation.
Woo was a big part of the Mariners first AL West Division title in 24 years, which earned them a first round bye.
The Mariners hope to have Woo available for the AL Championship Series should they get past the Tigers.
