The Minnesota Wild have signed veteran goalie Filip Gustavsson to a five-year, $34 million contract extension, Wild general manager Bill Guerin announced Saturday, according to ESPN’s Emily Kaplan.
Minnesota has been busy this week as they also signed star winger Kirill Kaprizov to a record-breaking 8-year, $136 million contract back on Tuesday.
Gustavsson, 27, was entering the final year of his contract and by locking him and Kaprizov up on new contracts the Wild have successfully taken care of some critical business to help lay the foundation for their future.
The Wild have now secured the majority of their core players under the age of 30 with multiyear contracts.
The highly-regarded goalie went 31-19-6 with a 2.56 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage and finished sixth in Vezina Trophy voting last season for Minnesota.
