The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping that they can have legendary tight end Travis Kelce back in the fold for the 2026 season and have plans to talk with Kelce following Super Bowl LX, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Kelce, 36, had a bounce back 2025 season but has not made a definitive decision on if he wants to continue his playing career next season but Kelce has been in touch with the Chiefs about a potential return.

The Chiefs certainly want him back.

Kelce played out the final year of a two-year, $34.25 million extension last season, so if he were to make his return to Kansas City it would be under a new contract and with the Chiefs currently significantly over the cap by over $50 million, it will take some time for Kansas City to work some gymnastics to get under the cap.

Kelce recently celebrated the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy on his podcast.

“I can’t wait to see him back in the building, man,” Kelce said. “He’s one of my favorite coaches of all time, one of my favorite people of all time. I’ve had so many unbelievable growing moments under him as a player, as a person, and I just love the guy.
