It’s no secret that the rookie season for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff was lackluster at best. In fact, it left a lot of fans speculating if the Rams made a mistake taking Goff over Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz in the NFL draft.

But Goff has been working hard at his development and is showing signs of improvement.

While training camp will give media, fans and analysts more concrete evidence of improvement, Goff’s work thus far has impressed some of his Rams teammates including Rams punter Johnny Hekker who believes that fans will notice a difference right away.

“He’s grown a ton and he’s worked very hard this offseason to be more physically and mentally prepared,” Hekker told The Reynolds Report, via gridiron-magazine.com (/h/t NFL.com).

“The confidence levels about him are much higher than when he first came in.”

Goff posted an 0-7 record as a starter only throwing 5 touchdowns while posting an abysmal 63.6 quarterback rating during his rookie campaign.

But there is a lot of hop in Los Angeles with the arrival of new head coach Sean McVay who was credited with the development of Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.

McVay’s arrival to the organization could help Goff take a big leap in Year 2.

“Your world sort of spins when you get into the NFL and you don’t know what to expect,” Hekker said.

“He seems much more prepared coming into this season and just looking much sharper, so I’m excited to see what he has for us this season.”
